How do you plan to decorate the nursery? Color schemes? Themes?

I like gray, white and yellow AND it's gender neutral!

I'd like a black and white theme and throw in pink or purple for a girl and green for a boy.

Ginger posted this 26 August 2018

I bought gender-neutral furniture (ex: no flowers) in white and went with a soft gray wall color. We've used the same nursery for our two kids and plan on keeping it the same for number 3. I added pink accents with our daughter (curtains, area rug, etc) that were later moved to her room and used green accents for our son. Using a gender neutral palette saved us $$$ in the long run I think.

I created a whole pintrest page to help me figure out what our theme will be for baby LOL! But I love the boho look. Lots of greenery, natural woods, and lots of textures.

Samantha! I love the BOHO look as well! It's warm enough for baby to feel cozy and blends in so beautifully with the rest of our home's decor. I plan to use lots of greenery as well. What's your Pinterest?! I'd love to see the rest of your ideas.

I’m doing yellow and gray as well! I love those two colors together. Hobby Lobby has a lot of great art work to add to the room!

I LOVE hobby lobby! I did a woodland theme for my baby! Love love love it. Between amazon, hobby lobby, Marshall’s, home goods, and Pinterest - they own my bank account lol. Oh and Etsy too hehe.

I am myself am partial to the rustic type style I think that would make a super cute baby room! Hobby Lobby has everything! We just got one in my hometown and it was so exciting. If I could live there I would, ha!

I like a lot of bold colors though for baby rooms. Bright and exciting! I know gray is a hot color right now for everything but I love seafoam green and hot pink together.

I love white. It brightens up the room and goes with anything. For my son, I did elephant theme. (white/blue/grey)

I really like light gray, white, and a mint blue! It is still perfect for either gender If it ends up being a girl you can add pops of light pink, and if it ends up being a boy you can add pops of a darker shade of blue.

aubrey posted this 31 August 2018

I love stars for sure! also, the color grey is my favorite because you can pair them with either a boy color or a girl color

Erica posted this 31 August 2018

I think yellow is perfect for either gender! You can also do a light grey, cream and a bit of charcoal. That way you can add accents later depending on if it is a boy or girl.

Amanda posted this 31 August 2018

We have a blue teddy bear theme in mind for a boy and a pink tea party theme for a girl. I love lots of lace/pearl accents for a girl nursery and more woodsy, rugged accents for a boy. I've been stalking Google for inspiration!

Megan posted this 01 September 2018

I had a purple/gray/white color palette with my girls. I picked up some owl decals somewhere that turned out nicely as well with the overall look.

Other ideas:

- Beach/Moana theme

- Farm theme

- Cowboy/wild west theme

- Woodland/forest theme (you could do a flowery meadow for a girl!!)

- Mad tea party theme

We are having a boy and I decorated with navy, red, white and little bit of yellow and vintage airplanes.  Hobby Lobby has lots of great airplane decorations right now for little boys.  My favorite is a sign that says "let your dreams take flight" and it is hung behind the crib.  I also found a mobile on restoration hardware's site that is made of metal, vintage airplanes in the exact colors that I'm using in his room!

Any neutral colors look amazing for a boy or girl! It's all about layering textures, so have plenty of blankets and an area rug.

Amy posted this 05 September 2018

I am doing the nursey grey and white with black furniture I am keeping the gender a surprise so I will add other colors once I know.

Christine posted this 06 September 2018

I am so excited to decorate a nursery! I don't want to have too much blue or pink... I think I am going to go gender neutral too!

Jessica posted this 06 September 2018

I LOVE pink and gold for a girl!!! It's sooo pretty! I also LOVE black, white, and gray. You can always add a piece here and there basically in whatever color you want then! I also love gray and mint!

Susan posted this 15 October 2018

My color scheme is gray, a light mint color, white. I have a little book shelve that is light mint color, and a little lamp with baby animals that is white, gray, and light yellow. Thinking of buying a gray wood stain crib. I also bought a canvas that say "Oh, the places you'll go!" Don't really have a theme just picking up things here and there that I think will go well in the nursery

Idalia posted this 15 October 2018

I decorated with grey and white. It was perfect for either a boy or a girl. I ended up having a boy and just added royal blue touches here and there. Blankets, courtains, wall stickers, etc. As per bassinet, changer, rocking chair we’re all grey and white.

I'm a fan of gender neutral since it saves a bunch of money in the long run. I always stick with yellows, whites, and soft greens. The woodland theme trend is super cute and gender neutral too.

Since I’m having a girl i’m going with a black and pink theme. I initially wanted to go gender neutral but once I found out we were having a girl that changed!

LaKeisha posted this 16 October 2018

I feel like there's so much left to do still so I love the ideas I've seen. I like the idea of gender neutral since I really don't want to assign a color based on traditional norms for my child. I would also want the room to be as colorful as I can get it.

Massive Disney fan here...if you're a Disney fan too, what about decorating with a theme based on your favorite character or story? I'm planning on decorating my first baby's nursery in a Peter Pan or Alice in Wonderland theme (the original Alice in Wonderland cartoon, not Johnny Depp AIW) regardless of gender. Or if you have a favorite story in general, use that as your inspiration. I love the idea of using stories one or both parents enjoy, it's like you're passing on a family heirloom!

Jen posted this 20 October 2018

I am decorating on the theme "adventure is out there" maybe paint the walls based on UP the movie. Cloud, balloons, the up house. I am still pretty early in and still thinking of different ideas. But its the one I like most

Jessica posted this 20 October 2018

I'm sticking with neutrals- and then blush accents for my girl.

Pink and gold are so classic! I love it! We did a slightly more monochrome palette in Siobhan's room. Varying shades of pink/coral against an ivory background. Regardless of gender, make the nursery a happy room!

We are having a girl so I’m doing pink and gold. I like to paint and create so I’m making a lot of the art work and decorations. I’m so excited!

I love lighthouses to me they are a symbol of hope and calmness. Naturally I have themed my daughters nursery with lighthouses .

We did an xo xo theme, the colors were gray and white and then we threw in a soft yellow tone. We hand made a lot of the décor items. I did sheets myself in xoxo pattern and did some print offs of xoxo to put in frames. We did some quotes we framed and then also made a piggy bank. The curtains matched the sheets, it sounds like a lot but really they were the finishing touches to a neutral room to make it pop.

We are doing a camo hunting theme. We painted walls a light brown with green strip... We bought the stick and peel hunting animals to put on the wall. I also bought camo curtains an lamp. Its so cute.

I like the tribal idea with teepees and foxes and stuff lol

Missy posted this 10 January 2019

I love black and white nurseries! Gender neutral and visually stunning!

Kathy posted this 11 January 2019

Grey/whites with some yellows sounds perfect for gender neutral. My thoughts were add to it once the baby was born, and honestly it's for the parents more than the baby LOL..  Unfortunately, I had wood paneling and rented with my baby, so I wasn't even allowed to have the option to paint ;(

Kelli posted this 11 January 2019

Are you going to use your nursery much at first? This is a legitimate question, I’m curious. A lot of parents keep baby in their room for at least 6 months, some up to a year. We don’t even have a room set up right now for the babe and he’s half a year.

I think setting up a nursery is super fun and I love making one really cute, but I would lean towards setting it up for a one year old than a newborn.

Unless you’re going to use it! Then by all means, I am excited for you

And soft yellows and greens are definitely my favorite pop of color with mostly gray. So stinkin cute.

We are doing mint green and gray. That way we can add a little pink or blue later when we know the sex!

I'm doing a watercolor safari theme which is pretty gender neutral!

Katalina posted this 12 February 2020

We did a black and white nursery for both our kids (we didn't know the gender). It was super classy. I even found black and white pictures of baby animals with their mamas and framed them and hung them up. It was beautiful!

Natalie posted this 13 February 2020

a theme that works for toddler years too where you can exchange some items and keep others.  Like black accent pieces.

Sam posted this 13 February 2020

For my son it was light blue, then we darkened the paint later on , put in more storage cubes, and that led the way for HIM to sort of set the theme with his toys.

Sarah posted this 16 February 2020

I used kelly green, navy blue, and white for my son. The colors paired nice with the Madras bedding from Pottery Barn.
