At what age did you take your toddler to the denist? And how did you help them feel comfortable?

One per my pediatrician's recommendation. He got to sit on my lap in the chair and we went to a really highly recommended pediatric dentist with a super fun waiting room and excellent staff that were a tremendous help.

We actually got established with a dentist as soon as baby's first tooth came in.

I believe you are supposed to take them after their first tooth appears and if they haven't had one come in before 1 year you should take them then. It is probably a good idea to get the acclimated to the dentist at a young age.

I actually need to make an appointment for my little one. Its been 6 months since his first tooth and I am seeing quite a bit of crowding in his teeth already.

I was advised that as soon as your little one gets a tooth, you are supposed to make their first appointment. During your first visit, they probably won't do much, its more for helping your toddler get use to the dentist in general.

I think it's not super important to go early unless you suspect issues. I'd try to go between 1-2 for the first time though. They really don't do much.

I think everyone is right here, that your little one should be going to the dentist around age one or two, but these early appointments are mostly for the child to get used to the dentist.  I didn't start mine until 3, and he was still fine.

We also took ours once a couple of teeth came in. We went to a prediatric-only dentist. They definitely know how to deal with toddlers.

I have taken my 2.5 year old twice now. We went around 18 months and then again right before 2.5 years. She is very shy and would not let them look in her mouth either time. Our dentist and hygenist didn't push it. They said they want her to feel comfortable, and just hope to be able to get a cleaning and exam in by 3. In the meantime, we brush twice a day and follow all their recommendations for dental health.

I just made my little one's appointment. I'm worried about whether or not he'll be able to sit still long enough for them to see inside his mouth.

We waited until all his teeth were in for a little while before taking him to the dentist. Around 18 months. Then again after 2 years old when he was starting to eat more sweets. The dentist wasn't worried about his teeth and didn't even do a cleaning. We brush with a kids electric tooth brush now twice a day.
