I really like the idea of having some freezer meals ready for when the baby comes, I just don't feel organized enough.  Anyone have some good ideas that are healthy and easy?

I'm not a very organized person either lol.  But, with my first child, I did start cooking double batches of certain meals.  I made double batches of waffles, rice, taco meat, spaghetti sauce, muffins, and soups.  I did have a decent amount of meals stocked by the time the baby came.

I'm going to try to do some freezer meals.  There are a lot of good ideas on Pinterest.  I'm planning to do some baked spaghetti or lasagna, waffles, muffins, and some soups.  Anything that I can make a big batch of and freeze.

I made a few and my mom brought me a few when I got home from the hospital and they were so nice to have!! Even premise crockpot meals you can just throw in the crockpot!

I thought about it, found some meals on pinterest that I've pinned but haven't started making any yet!

I had a cowboy casserole and a couple pans of lasagna made. Really was a lifesaver for the first few days home with baby!

I've seen a bunch of recipes on Pinterest too. I saw easy burrito recipes, you just pop them in the oven super easy

Yes! You can find a ton of great recipes on Pinterest. I would check out SkinnyTaste too, she has the BEST recipes ever.

Yes, it's a great idea! You can also ask family and friends who want to help to make you their best dish in freezer-meal format!

Rachelle posted this 13 January 2019

There are a lot of good ideas on Pinterest - but you could consider handing out a list of favorite meals that you and your family like. A lot of friends/family will bring food over to new moms, and this way they know what to bring and your meals would be hot/fresh and ready to go - without you stressing over how to do it!

My. Mother did this. For me. When I was pregnant. It was the best thing because it was something I wanted to do but was Way Too tired to stand and do it all day myself.

I made double recipes of meals leading up to delivery and would freeze half of it

Cierra posted this 14 January 2019

This is exactly what I did! We had a lot of casseroles leading up to birth (so fast and easy) and I would just make a double batch and freeze half! I also made a good amount of dump recipes for the crockpot.  It made life so much easier after birth.

Yes! I love it! The idea of having home made good, and not pizza or Chinese. We would make meal preps for 3 month freezer and 1 week fridge.

I prepped some meals and put in the freezer to make the cooking much faster.

AMANDA posted this 08 March 2019

Yes I did I looked a lot on Pinterest on some ideas so I did a few but wasn't really enough. Lots of family came over as well and brought something to eat.

Mary posted this 08 March 2019

I bought some frozen meals from the grocery store.

Val posted this 09 March 2019

Yes, we are Indian and my mom helps me with all the

Meal 🥘 preps. She makes dolmas and we just put them in the freezer, same with chicken soups and beef stew. It is good for up to a month.

Alisha posted this 09 March 2019

No, I didn’t but I wish I did! The worst thing was having to worry about dinner when I was adjusting to becoming a new mom and was beyond overwhelmed.

Naomi posted this 09 March 2019

I still do the freezer meals.  It is so much easier to take to work and all. It certainly was convenient when I was first came home with the new baby.

Krista posted this 11 March 2019

I can't sing enough praises about making prepping freezer meals before baby comes. They're so convenient! Just make sure you write the date they were made on the outside of the zip lock

My favorites:

Beef stew

Premade meatballs (for spaghetti or meatball subs)

Baked ziti

Lasagna

Italian chicken

Pulled pork

Chili

Odd one, but I like prepping breakfast too. You're already short on sleep. Might as well have quick breakfast too

Quiches, egg muffins, smoothie packs, etc.

Pinterest!!! I am planning on freezer meals too. I totally dropped the ball with the first baby. Not this time.

Shaunice posted this 13 March 2019

I had fun making soups for my pre baby freezer meals. my favorites were taco soup, cheesy potato soup, Italian turkey soup, things like that. and when i got home, or in the mornings, i would pop them into the crock pot and have it for the rest for the day and the next and start all over. really easy and really fast, away from the actual prepping time, of course that's a pain!

Alaysia posted this 14 March 2019

I was thinking the same thing! I shop at HEB and they have pre-made meals. I was thinking about stocking up on those freezer meals before baby, stashing them in put outside freezer, and ten popping in the oven for lunch and dinners.

Rene posted this 17 March 2019

Yes!! Easy freezer meals are a must for new moms! Whether you make them before the baby comes or someone else makes them, they are totally a lifesaver and makes your job so much easier once the baby comes. Another suggestion is if you are staying at home during the day alone with the baby, buy some of those healthy prep-meals. They are single portions and pre-frozen which makes things a breeze.

Pinterest is amazing!! I've found so many ideas for healthy freezer meals. My favorite so far is the breakfast burritos! You can make them with any ingredients you wish and they freeze very well. Oh and premade egg cups are also amazing! Just whip up about 10 or so eggs, add your favorite cooked ingredients, pour in a muffin tin and cook. Cool and freeze in large zip bags and you're good to go!

I am soooo lazy! Thank goodness for my boyfriend, he's a trainer so I am now on his diet! for freezer meals for new parents he likes to shop organic at whole foods and HEB. We do frozen vegetables and fruit, sweet potato's and baked potato's in the crock pot! potato soup is my favorite! we freeze chicken, fish, and turkey and put in the crockpot with gray mix or broth!

I think having meals to freeze before the baby comes is an awesome idea and using a delivery service is genius! The less work the better. The good thing about the delivery service is that usually the meals are prepared by a chef and they are actually healthy for you. Good for moms who also want to keep their weight down.

I started using meal prep companies for healthy freezer meals for new moms. Groupon has great deals on Every plate, blue apron, and home chef!

Samantha posted this 18 March 2019

Man I sure wish I had thought of this before. I guess with all of the excitement, I never really thought about freezer meals to prep before the baby came. I was too worried about a clean house and a perfect nursery. This would have really been a life saver for us! I bet prepping and freezing all kinds of soups would have been amazing.

casseroles and pasta a great freezer meals before baby. freezing meat and fish that are already seasoned. crock pot meals are great as well.

Destiny posted this 21 March 2019

Subscription to meal prep company's are great for healthy freezer meals for new moms, they help with loosing baby weight to and getting back in shape faster with less time on your hands now. I know Groupon has great deals with different company's and I would google some as well. they come pre packed and already frozen but you will need a lot of freezer space because its about a months worth unless company do shipments every two weeks. but I say go that route for at least the 1st month.

I'm just trying to have some stuff in the freezer that's relatively healthy but premade. Like Voila meals and stuff. Also Frozen Pizza so that I'm at least not spending $$ on takeout on days that are really rough!

even if I don't make meals, I'll be happy that I have ground beef browned and seasoned so I can easily pull that out of freezer

Ava posted this 20 December 2019

I did this with our second child and was SO thankful that I had! I tried to just double a recipe (or just make one that fed more than our family) once or twice a week in the last couple months before I was due. Then, I would freeze the extra portion as a meal for after baby. It was super easy and required minimal planning since I was just cooking extra of what I was making anyways.
