The Safety of Topiramate during Pregnancy

 

THIS MEDICATION CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR BABY: Topiramate should not be taken during pregnancy unless the benefits of treatment outweigh the potential risks to the baby. Human studies that have looked at the safety of topiramate during pregnancy suggest this medication may be harmful to the developing baby, particularly during the first trimester of pregnancy. Caution is advised in mothers who are nursing and on topiramate therapy.
